Roosevelt
Roosevelt, the brainchild of Marius Lauber, is renowned for its irresistible kaleidoscopic style, intertwining funk, synth-pop, and shoegaze-leaning sounds. Lauber’s musical journey began in his teenage years in Viersen, Germany, where he played in various indie garage bands before immersing himself in the techno scene in Cologne. As a resident DJ at Kompakt’s Total Confusion party, he refined his skills and cultivated a deep appreciation for electronic music.
In 2012, Lauber launched his project Roosevelt with the single “Sea,” released by Greco-Roman Records, co-owned by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard. This marked the onset of his exploration into dance-infused indie pop, which gained momentum with his debut EP “Elliot” in 2013. His self-titled debut album, released in 2016, showcased his talent for crafting infectious, club-friendly tracks, earning him recognition in both the electronic and indie music scenes.
Throughout his career, Roosevelt has collaborated with or remixed esteemed artists such as Nile Rodgers, Taylor Swift, CHVRCHES, Glass Animals, and Charlotte Gainsbourg. His sonic evolution is evident in albums like “Young Romance” (2018), “Polydans” (2021), and “Embrace” (2023), where he explored funk, disco, and ’80s pop influences while maintaining his distinct sound.
With each release, Roosevelt continues to push boundaries, captivating audiences with his dynamic performances and innovative approach to music production. As he navigates through different genres and styles, one aspect remains constant – his ability to create music that resonates deeply with listeners, bridging the divide between indie authenticity and electronic allure.
