Empress Of
Under the name Empress Of, Honduran-American songwriter, musician and producer Lorely Rodriguez creates introspective, self-empowering pop music centered around her impressive, acrobatic vocals. For Your Consideration, a follow-up to 2020’s I’m Your Empress Of and 2022’s Save Me EP, is a bi-lingual album that embraces camp and fantasy playing with the idea of Hollywood. The songs, which veer between English and Spanish, reflect on the transactional nature of love and sex, which is mirrored by the ephemeral sense of existence in the entertainment industry. Empress Of has collaborated with Top 40 pop artists and cultural icons such as Khalid, Blood Orange, Lewis OfMan, DJ legend Boyz Noise, ShyGirl and Salute. She’s toured with the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen, Lizzo, Maggie Rogers, Rina Sawayama and wowed audiences at festivals such as Outside Lands and Corona Capital.
Flyana Boss
Hailing from Detroit, MI and Dallas, TX – MCs and multi-instrumentalists Bobbi LaNea and Folayan met at a music college in Los Angeles, CA. They immediately hit it off and began collaborating, eventually naming their group, Flyana Boss, (rhymes with Diana Ross). Embodying the spirit of flyness and bossness, this fierce duo repping the vagina dynasty aim to entertain, make you laugh and always remind you that you are listening to the direct descendants of all the boss-ass bitches that came before them through generations of humanity, from Cleopatra to Harriet Tubman to Michelle Obama to Beyoncé!
The duo’s rising popularity and memorable performances make them a must-see act in the hip hop scene. As they continue to make their mark, Flyana Boss remains focused on creating music that reflects their experiences and resonates with their listeners. They are committed to pushing boundaries, embracing their uniqueness, and uplifting others through their art. With their talent, ambition, and unwavering drive, Flyana Boss is destined to become a prominent force in the hip hop industry, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of music lovers worldwide.
Ally Evenson
Ally Evenson is a scary little songwriter, and she’s also one of the most exciting indie-alternative artists breaking in the LA scene right now. Released by the Detroit-based Atlantic Records imprint Assemble Sound in November 2024, Evenson’s debut album BLUE SUPER LOVE explores supersized feelings in songs that pair bratty pop melodies with overblown textures in a way that places her on some strange and beautiful island between Radiohead, Gracie Abrams, Chappell Roan, and Imogen Heap. After giving it a highly complimentary 7.0 rating, Pitchfork described BLUE SUPER LOVE as “orgasmic-in-the-way-that-a-female-praying-mantis-devouring-its-mate-is-orgasmic”, which feels like high praise to us. She’s currently living in LA and writing her next album, hopelessly searching for the impossible balance between making art and posting tik toks.
L.A. Exes
Lock up your daughters, L.A. Exes has arrived. The refreshingly clever queer trio blends sixties sonics with a modern edge to bring you good vibes for dark times. Though their lyrics are chock full of vulnerability and biting wit, the Exes always bring the party. Opening track “Skinny Dipping” and “Temporary Goodbye” hang intricate Beatles-eque harmonies on a frame of jangly surf pop, while the more contemplative “West Keys” and “I Got Half a Mind” find the band negotiating the fine line between “I miss you” and “I hope you die.” This is the queer, female supergroup you didn’t know you needed. Get ready, ladies, they’re about to turn you.
